Portræt Nu! in Copenhagen

Erling Klingenberg among the Prizewinners at Nordic Portrait Show

The Portræt Nu! Nordic portrait price was established in 2007 with support from the Danish Carlsberg Fund and the first associated exhibition toured the Nordic countries in 2008. It opened at the Danish National Historical Museum in Frederiksborg-castle and was seen in Iceland at Hafnarborg, the art museum in Hafnarfjörður. The second round opened in Frederiksborg this spring and the prizes were announced in July. This time there was an Icelander among the winners, Erling Klingenberg, awarded one of the three special jury prizes.

While Erling's work is diverse, he has worked in recent years on an extensive project involving self-portraiture and questioning both identity and the role of the artist. This project has taken many froms, including the life-sized (and incredibly life-like) statue of the artist which caught the jury's attention.

Some more infromation on the prize can be found on the Frederiksborg website.
