Reykjavik Art Museum Features Young Artists
Birta Guðjónsdóttir in D
The D-series is a new exhibition programme that has been set up in the Reykjavik Art Museum's D-gallery and is meant to be an ongoing project to draw attention to promising young artists who have not previously had a chance to exhibit in the major museums in Iceland. Every artist will create new work for the space and the museums aims to publish a catalogue at the end of each year to document the exhibitions.
Birta Guðjónsdóttir is the first artist featured in the series and she exhibits both photographs and video in installation. Birta studied in Reykjavik and at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam and has taken part in various exhibitions since 1999.
Upcoming exhibtions in the series will feature Geirþrúður Finnbogadóttir Hjörvar, Sigurður Guðjónsson and Daniel Björnsson.
