Real-Time Art in Reykajvík:

Sequences Festival 2009

Save the dates: 31.10. to 7.11.

The fourth real-time festival in Reykjavik SEQUENCES will open on Saturday, October 31st with a spectacular program. International and Icelandic artists will come together for various projects such as performances, screenings, concerts and exhibitions. The special focus will be on Nordic collaborations but also local artists such as The Icelandic Love Corporation or Egill Sæbjörnsson will participate. A special highlight will again be the festival’s honorary artist.

After the big success of Rúrí’s performance for SEQUENCES 2008 this year’s honorary artist will be 80 year old concept art legend Magnús Pálsson. Born in East-Iceland in 1929, Pálsson studied theatre design and art in the early 1950s and became an active participant in Iceland's embryonic avant-garde, collaborating with alternative theatre groups as well as with other artists such as Dieter Roth and later the SÚM-group of young artists that formed in 1965 (see LIST#11).

This years international art festival is in the hands of the artistic director Kristín Dagmar Jóhannesdóttir and the manager Sólrún Sumarliðadóttir. Information on the previous festival including videos can be found on the website www.sequences.is
